Can SlutWalks Stop the Republican War on Women?
RedTracker| SlutWalks are gaining momentum, with 2000 people signed up for Boston today. We will be marching on June 18. SlutWalks began in Toronto, after police officer Constable Michael Sanguinetti made his now infamous remarks to a group of students in Toronto:
“You know, I think we’re beating around the bush here,” he reportedly told them. “I’ve been told I’m not supposed to say this - however, women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimised”.

The questions for us is whether or not this energy — 2500 people signed up for Boston today — can be leveraged to fight the global war on women. In America can it be harnessed to a Republican-dominated, Conservative culture that is determined to roll back women’s rights? Conservatives view women as the ‘incubator’ of babies with no right to live herself, if an abortion is required to save her life.
In America Conservatives have made it clear to women where we stand. With all their focus on less government, the one exception is women’s bodies where they seek full control of a woman’s relationship with her doctor and her own body. Read on at MSNBC
