Breakthrough Nanoblasting, Laser Drug-Delivery System

RedTracker| In a smashing new health-related development, researchers have developed a new drug delivery technique, one that nanoblasts laser-activated nanoparticles that move molecules, proteins and DNA into cells. 

Carbon nanoparticles activated by bursts of laser light trigger the tiny blasts, which open holes in cell membranes just long enough to admit therapeutic agents contained in the surrounding fluid. By adjusting laser exposure, the researchers administered a small-molecule marker compound to 90 percent of targeted cells — while keeping more than 90 percent of the cells alive. 

Researchers must do much more work before the delivery system is operating around the country, but there seems to be no doubt that the breakthrough is a huge step forward in the development of more-effective than ever new drug delivery systems. via Science Daily.
