AraNet 'Organizes' Vast Amounts of Plant DNA Information

GreenTracker| In a huge boost to plant biology and agricultural research scientists have created a new computational model used to predict gene function of uncharacterized plant genes with unprecedented speed and accuracy.

Despite immense progress in functional characterization of plant genomes, over 30% of the 30,000 Arabidopsis genes have not been functionally characterized yet. Another third has little evidence regarding their role in the plant.

The new computational network, called AraNet, has over 19,600 genes associated to each ohter by over 1 million links. The genetic DNA of humans is far more complex in numbers of geners. As a management information system, AraNet, is a huge boost to agricultural and plant research at a critical time in the Planet’s history. via Science Daily
