DolceTracker| The Daily Beast has a lovely story about American women, in particular, taking to our bikes. There’s no doubt that cities are making it easier and safer to ride bikes, and we are responding.
Even in New York City, bicycling is up 66% from 2007-2009, and injuries are down 50% with more bike lanes and respect for bikers among auto drivers. The vision of bikers as rugged, lycra-wearing guys has given way to women riding in dresses and pumps, along with casual attire. The Daily Beast reports that women are opening bike stores, bicycle cafes and cycling clothes and accessories.
