America Forecasts 20-33% of Adults Will Have Diabetes By 2050

Sensual and Superyoung | The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimate that if current American obesity and lack of exercise trends continue, as many as one in three adults could have diabetes by 2050. It’s almost certain that one in five adults will have diabetes, without major changes in America’s lifestyle.

Currently about 24 million, or one in 10 adult Americans has type 2 diabetes, driven by lifestyle choices. Diabetes costs the US more than $174 billion in 2007.  Britain faces an almost identical set of statistics regarding current and future diabetes rates.
