Holly Hunt Defines 'At Home' for Aspen's Little Nell

Holly Hunt in a Little Nell model room. Carmel Zucker for The Wall Street JournalOn Sept. 7, the five-star Aspen hotel Little Nell will shut its doors for a three-month, $18 million extreme makeover renovation, in the hands of Holly Hunt.

In the process, Little Nell will become more international and cosmopolitan — not so much as Holly Hunt’s original model room designs which visitors found too cold and urbane. Presumably there won’t be many antlers in sight, but Hunt has nodded to Colorado tradition with closet doors reseumbling barn doors.

Little Nell estimates that renovation costs will run 35% more, than if they used a hotel-design firm. But the owners are clear that they want the new Little Nell to feel like a home and not a hotel. At $1200 a night, and with 65% of guests return visitors, creating a new style, sustainable luxury for Little Nell appears to be a wise investment. via Wall Street Journal, Aspen’s Little Nell Gets a Big Makeover
