Tony Blair May Return to Politics as President of Europe

Former British prime minister Tony Blair could become Europe’s first president if the Irish vote “yes” in today’s referendum on the Lisbon treaty.

France’s President Sarkozy is pushing Mr Blair as the best candidate and Angela Merkel has softened her opposition. Tony Blair could assume the position as early as October 29.

Unless Blair is assured of a win, he is not keen to give up his many other commitments in the Middle East, on climate change and with his Faith Foundation. via London Times
