Carversville | The Best of American Life
Written 2-11-10 reflecting on my second journal 6-7-07
In this second reflection I consider the connections between Carversville and Europe, in spite of the little red barn near my house.
The duality of the ‘Italian Riviera’ house down the road and the little red barn represent my life from the Minnesota prairie to New York and on to Europe and Asia.
As a young woman growing up in Minnesota, I never fit in, except for a brief stint in Wisconsin in seventh gradue. There I was the prom queen.
For reasons I don’t understand fully, I knew at age seven that I was New York bound. My parents regarded this love and interest in New York as a form of arrogance.
Back to Carversville. When New Yorkers ‘invade’ the small towns of America within driving distance, the locals aren’t always thrilled. Read on Carversville: A Passionate Muse.
