Britain is getting a bit of a jolt today, due to previously undiscovered diaries which show the intense relationship between Queen Victoria and the Indian man employed to be her teacher and became her dearest friend with unheard of privileges for a commoner.
The BBC writes that the diaries add significant weight to the argument that the widowed Queen Victoria was much closer to the tall, handsome Indian Muslim called Abdul Karim than to John Brown, her Scottish servant.
