Searching for Soul from Las Vegas to South Beach AOC Sensually Yours
On Friday morning, I took a long walk in the sleepy hours, before South Beach wakes up. As is often the case with me, I see links to the important stories in my life, everywhere I go. The sea gulls walking with me along the beach reminded me of Sept. 11, when the birds were in such a state of shock that they populated my neighborhood, far away from the Hudson River.
These sad, aquatic birds became my friends for several weeks after Sept. 11, offering me comfort in my loft tower, being sure I was okay, before returning to wet land. I will always connect sea gulls with the sadness of Sept. 11.
Striding north six years later, along the Miami waterfront, I was powerfully aware of my own body and the water cascading over my legs. The waves crashed louder against my ears, grounding me in my physicality, while reminding me who’s boss of this universe.
