Kate Upton Joins William Morris Endeavor & Yes, She Will Still Model

There are times to not take headlines very seriously and the shout outs that Kate Upton is leaving modeling for acting is a good example. The fact that Kate Upton has left IMG Models to cozy up with its owner William Morris Endeavor only reinforces the smart-girl attitude that the new face of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics has brought to her career development.

Kate Upton knows that she has big brand potential. Having left in the dust all her naysayers in the fashion industry, Kate has major career ambitions and they touch down in multiple endeavors. Can she sing?

William Morris Endeavor represents Hollywood and music clients that include Steven Spielberg, Adele, Alicia Keys, Bruno Mars and John Legend. With the IMG acquisition, Tayor Swift and Justin Timberlake came onboard. Yes, IMG had its own entertainment division, although it was better known in the fashion world as a modeling agency. Among athletes, William Morris represents Serena Williams.

Kate Upton will be managed by Rick Yorn, who also manages her ‘The Other Woman’ co-star Cameron Diaz. Like Kate, Diaz has always marched to her own outspoken drum beat.

Kate Upton for Bobbi Brown Holiday 2014 campaignMany bloggers and fashionistas weren’t kind at all to Kate Upton when she rocked to fame with her CatDaddy video. A couple years later, Upton, now 22, is one of the youngest celebrities to make it to the Forbes Most Powerful Celebrities List, where she joined Gisele Bundchen — that other ‘footballers wife’ and Kate Moss. Forbes estimated Upton’s earning at $7 million.

Kate Upton Is 'Venus Rising' By Mario Testino For Vogue UK June 2014

British Vogue June cover girl Kate Upton brings her winning charisma to Mario Testino’s beach babe images. Lucinda Chambers mixes retro with modern athletic swimwear in Kate’s all-American girl images ‘Venus Rising’ for the June 2014 issue.

If you missed Kate’s interviews in April 2014 American Vogue, link here. Bobbie Brown describes Upton in distinctly AOC Smart Sensuality terms and we could not be more delighted:

Besides being strong and confident, she is really smart. She knows exactly who she is and who her brand is. She told me she called her mom and her sister right away when she found out about [becoming the face of the brand]. She was so excited about doing it! That’s what I love about Kate: She’s a real girl. And she’s not a waif-y supermodel. She was an athlete, so she’s comfortable with her body. She’s really kind of every woman.

Kate Upton Defies Fashion Copious With Third Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Cover

As a big Kate Upton fan and supporter of Smart Sensuality women, I noted the comment on Fashion Copious last week in posting the Sports Illustrated cover above: “Kate Upton and what she represents does not seem to be the future.”

What does that mean, John? Exactly what does Kate Upton represent that offends you?

Imagine my delight just now to learn that Sports Illustrated has for the first time released two covers — the first one featuring Nina Agdal, Lily Aldridge, and Chrissy Teige and a second one for Kate Upton lovers. Kate goes three in a row.

Bravo for all you represent, Kate. Now if only certain men would shut up and stop making pronouncements about certain types of women, the world would be a better place for all of us. ~ Anne

Victoria's Secret: How DARE You Use Kate Upton's Old Photo On A New Catalogue?

Women Are Frankly Flawed, Victoria’s Secret, Get Used To It

My dear Victoria’s Secret friends. What in the world is up with you guys this week? It’s bad enough that you launched a new bra called ‘Flawless’, as if we ladies need to be reminded yet one more time of just how much we need fixing. Our brains are already saturated with inferiority complexes as we pick up yet another cue that our natural beauty just isn’t good enough.

Hopefully your former super Angel Gisele can set you straight on why ‘Flawless’ isn’t a good name for a bra these days. Take a good read of yesterday’s post Gisele Bundche & Johan Lindeberg Say Basta To ‘Flawless’.

We LIKE our imperfections and unique features. They are part of our IDENTITY. We don’t need the biggest lingerie brand in the world — one that consumed 10 years of my life in a great career ride —  telling us that we need to assess our flaws every time we look in the mirror.

Some of us are blondes and some brunettes. Some of us have round faces and others high foreheads with chiseled features. A few of us are 5’10” but most 5’4”. Some of us care about others and have good hearts with regard to how we treat people. Others do not.

Using Kate Upton Is A Mortal Sin After You Publicly Humiliated Her

Frankly, I can forgive you for ‘Flawless’ and continue to hold you in some regard. But you have committed a MORTAL SIN putting Kate Upton’s 2011 image on the back of a new Victoria’s Secret catalogue.

What in the world were you thinking, Victoria’s Secret Catalog??????????????? I thought your previous treatment of Kate Upton was a new low. In your crass tearing up of a woman’s reputation — which you did very publicly with your Victoria’s Secret stylist representativeve Sophia Neophitou saying that Victoria’s Secret would never use Kate Upton, because she is “like a Page 3 girl” — I thought you hit a new low in how you relate to women.

Neophitou said that Upton is “like a footballer’s wife with the too-blond hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy.”

Today, because Kate Upton is a great success in spite of Sophia Neophitou’s obnoxious, petty, demeaning comments about her, you decide to capitalize on Kate’s acceptance by Carine Roitfeld, Anna Wintour, Steven Meisel, and countless other top people in fashion. This is a totally disgusting turn of events, Victoria’s Secret.

‘The Kate Upton Effect’ By Mario Testino for Voge US June 2013

Kate Upton Is Sensual Gorgeousness NYC Style for Sam Edelman by David Lipman

New York-based footwear brand Sam Edelman has hired the divine Kate Upton to front its new digital and print advertising campaign, lensed by David Lipman.

“It felt like the right time,” said Sam Edelman, designer and division president of his brand. “We had a major ad campaign with Charlotte Kemp Muhl 18 months ago. It carried us for a long time. [By choosing Kate,] it was a hell of a decision to go with an indie girl.”

Lipman echoed that sentiment. “We chose Kate because she isn’t stick thin. She’s beautiful and all-American,” he said.

The brand went to Upton after she was photographed wearing a pair of Edelman equestrian-style boots. Both Kate and Edelman share a passion for horses, creating a bond that could go further, reports WWD.

The campaign replaces a 2011 one — not nearly as sophisticated and of Terry Richardson vintage — with Charlotte Kemp Muhl.

2012: A Year of Kate Upton Proving Sophia Neophitou Dead Wrong

Kate Upton | Guy Aroch | GQ Italia August 2012

(By our new writer Tiara Williams)

The saying any press is good press sure represents Kate Upton’s career in the last year. Upton started out being snubbed by Victoria’s Secrets Sophia Neophitou who famously said:

She’s like a footballer’s wife, with too-blond hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can buy

Kate Upton Inspires Us With Her Self Confidence

Sheesh! Statements like that would send must people crawling away with self-doubt. Neophitou proclaimed that Upton would never be able to grace the Victoria Secret runway, even though Upton had modeled in the Victoria Secrets catalogue a few times prior to that statement.

Upton’s having a fuller figure seemed for some a no-win for a modeling career, especially after Neophitou proclaimed her not fit for public consumption, Victoria’s Secret style.

Three cheers for Kate Upton, who heads the Models.com 2012 Breathrough Models list.

Kate Upton | Steven Meisel | Vogue Italia November 2012 | Miss Kate Upton

Kate Upton had a major male following after a YouTube video of her doing a famous dance called the “Dougie.” She showed everyone that in fact she wasn’t just a pretty face but a woman with personality, charisma and undaunting drive.

Like her or not, Kate Upton was determined to manage her own career.

If there wasn’t room in Neophitou’s fashion world for Kate Upton, she would make the room for herself. Upton was noticeably witty after the Victoria’s Secret fashion princess proclaimed her verdict, first reminding everyone that Gisele is a football wife and also the highest paid model in the world.

So what exactly is so bad about being a football wife? More importantly why was that okay for someone like Neophitou to say in a public forum called the New York Times? Who IS this chic anyway? Forgive me for not knowing.

For a Victoria’s Secret brand that focuses so much on sexuality, why wouldn’t a woman as beautiful and confident in her sexuality as Kate Upton not be considered the right fit?

REAL Supermodels To the Rescue

Upton has said that she would be the one to bring supermodels back and realizes that — despite these haters — she is relatable to the vast majority of women. Upton won over her female fan base when she spoke about not being able to fit into the sample sizes. What the heck. Neither could Marilyn Monroe!

Upton had heard it time and time again. “People told me I couldn’t be fashion, that I’m an old-fashioned body girl, only good for swimwear.”
