England’s Anglicans Brace for Big Fight Over Bishops 11/19/2010

The Archbishop of Canterbury says that he respects the decision of five Anglican bishops to join the Catholic Church over the subject of ordaining women priests.

Dr Rowan Williams has been in Rome this week for the 50th anniversary of the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of Christian Unity yesterday.

Other Anglicans disillusioned with the Church’s commitment to women bishops are expected to follow suit.

Christian Today reports that Forward in Faith and the Bishop of London have announced the formation of new societies within the Church of England to bring together those who oppose the consecration of women bishops. Their desire is to remain within the Church of England for now, hedging their bets on a defeat of draft legislation allowing for women bishops. via Christian Today
