Science may have once again confirmed that women speak with forked tongues. If you focus group American women on lingerie gifts from husbands and lovers, they will wail over the fact that the divine one dishes up red as his favorite lingerie color on Christmas and V-Day.

Guess what? Researchers confirm that women are strongly more attracted to men wearing red. This red attraction has nothing to do with other qualities such as dependability, likeability, or kindness. The results were cross-cultural and included participants in the US, England, Germany and China.

The cherry color’s charm ultimately lies in its ability to make men appear more powerful, says lead author Andrew Elliot, professor of psychology at the University of Rochester. “We found that women view men in red as higher in status, more likely to make money and more likely to climb the social ladder. And it’s this high-status judgment that leads to the attraction,” Elliot says. via Science Daily
