LOVE Mag Supermodel PhotosVisit our Private Studio blog, where we’ve just posted the very naked photos of old and new supermodels who love their bodies. Posted now Lara Stone, Kate Moss and Karia Werbowy. We’re working on Naomi Campbell and Natalia Vodianova.

LOVE Magazine is a UK publication owned by Conde Nast. This is the most spectacular set of totally nude art photos we’ve ever seen published in a mainstream — although edgy — publication that’s focused on loving our bodies.

Read Anne’s Body Politics blog, where she tracks sexuality, body image, sexy ads and other hot topics pertaining to sexuality.

In Les Artistes you will find several very strong articles, with Anne’s extensive commentary. The photos are sexy but the purpose of Anne of Carversville is to advance thinking about sensuality in America.

Marilyn Monroe & Carl Sandberg | Len Steckler's 'The Visit'

Marilyn Monroe and Carl Sandburg by Len StecklerNew photos of Marilyn Monroe have surfaced and will be sold as a limited edition series called “Marilyn Monroe: The Visit”.

The photographs have lounged in the private archive of Pulitizer-prize photographer Len Steckler since 1961 and feature Marilyn Monroe and Carl Sandburgh together.

Marilyn Monroe and Carl Sandberg by Len Steckler“It was serendipitous with these two icons in their moment and me there with my camera,” Steckler told Reuters, saying he was “like a fly on the wall” while he shot Monroe, then 35, and Sandburg, 83, while they chatted and held hands.

Frida Gustavsson | Dolce Vita Beauty Swedish Style

Frida Gustavsson by Miguel Reveriego for #110 NumeroWe might as well turn Anne of Carversville over to the Swedes this week. They dominate, which is no reflection on my mother’s maiden name, of course.

These Frida Gustavsson photos for Numero #110 and shot by Miguel Reveriego are drench in sensuality, living proof that a woman doesn’t have to be nude, to be seductive. Sometimes, more is more.

Frida Gustavsson by Miguel Riveriego | #110 NumeroI just posted emaciated, nude but spectuacularly artistic photos of Anne Selezneva, through the lens of Peter Lindbergh, over in Private Studio. She is soooooo thin, but hers is the fashion industry standard of beauty.

Anja Rubik by Camilla Akrans | Vogue Nippon Mar 2010

Anja Rubik by Camilla Akrans Vogue Nippon Mar 2010The world of fashion photography, like so much of the creative arts, has been dominated by men.

Consumed by the ‘virginal’ mood and beauty of Anja Rubik, photographed by Swedish photographer living in New York Camilla Akrans, for the March issue of Vogue Japan, it was a few moments before I said ‘woman photographer’.

Anja Rubik by Camilla Akrans Vogue Nippon Mar 2010There are many great male photographers of women in the world but I’m so struck by Terry Richard’s lack of a lens connection with his subjects.

Helen Mirren | Super Dame

Shakira is our first patron saint at Anne of Carversville, but Dame Helen Mirren isn’t far behind. Mirren’s definitely the inspiration for my growing Old Ladies Rebellion. With role models like Helen, aging doesn’t seem so bad — as long as a woman lives consciously with her body, mind and spirit.

On the subject of aging, the Daily Mail — which can be ruthlessly critical of women’s physicality and aging bodies — published an absolutely terrific read.

Actually, it must be Helen Mirren day, because she’s extolled here, too: Seductive, confident and knowing: The allure of the older woman has novelist Howard Jacobson enthralled.

Dame Helen Mirren, via UK Daily MailAt 64, Helen Mirren looks fantastic and even better in person. I had the great pleasure of sitting close in her 2008 TimesTalk here in New York.

In spite of her fabulous figure and great looks, Helen Mirren says that she totally understands why women undergo cosmetic surgery to look younger. Admitting that she herself has experienced self-doubts over her looks and growing older.

Mirren’s perspective on women’s angst over their physicality is very similar to my own.

In an interview with GMTV, Dame Helen said: ‘I don’t think there’s outside pressure, I think it’s the pressure you put on yourself when you look at the mirror in the morning.

‘You go, ‘I don’t want to look at that face anymore,’ and I understand that, absolutely. I think people should be allowed to do whatever they want to make themselves feel happy.’ via Daily Mail UK

I don’t agree that society and beauty standards aren’t a partial source of women’s torment.  I do believe that working through the journey of loving oneself, — caring about one’s physical self enough to exercise, eat healthy, enjoy the company of both sexes, stay sensual, exercise one’s mind — is a selfpenbrace that women can only do between themselves and the woman in the mirror. It truly is a different psychological experience for men, than for women. Anne

Crystal Renn & Keith Schofield | Brigette Magazine

I love this Crystal Renn opulent but very sensual fashion editorial for Germany’s Brigitte, who says that will use real people in fashion editorials going forward. Crystal Renn is real but also a model, appearing in the January V Magazine survey of models in all sizes.

So often fashion photos are very superficial, presenting clothes after all, with no real interest in drawing us into the mood of the woman. We might assume that the darkness, the rich fabrics and rich interior make Crystal Renn appear so sensual in these photos.

Introducing the Splendid Opera Singer Monica Yunus

Monica Yunus and her father Dr. Muhammad Yunu I’m totally devoted to Dr. Muhammad Yunus and Grameen Bank’s micro-lending program. Sitting in New York front row seat a month ago, listening to Dr. Yunus tell the inspiring history of microfinance from Bangdalesh to Omaha, I had no idea that his daughter Monica Yunus is an opera singer with New York’s Metropolitan Opera.

Monica Yunus was born in 1979 in Chittagong, Bangladesh to Nobel Peace Prize recipient Muhammad Yunus and his then wife, Vera Forostenko. Yunus has one younger half-sister, Dina Yunus. Yunus’ parents met in 1967 while attending Vanderbilt University. They were married in 1970. Yunus’ parents’ marriage ended within months of her birth, and Forostenko returned with Monica to the United States claiming that Bangladesh was not a good place to raise a baby. Forostenko is the daughter of Russian immigrants to Trenton, New Jersey, United States and she returned with Monica to live with them. via Wikipedia

Listening to Monica Yunus for two minutes leaves me emotionally breathless.

Sigourney Weaver: 60 and Still Sensational in Avatar

It’s only the roll of the dice that puts two 60-year-old big name actresses back to back in Redtracker. Yesterday Meryl Streep; today Sigourney Weaver. Coincidentally, neither has a close relationship with Botox or the plastic surgeon.

The Daily Mail writes up Sigourney Weaver: Who said you’re past it at 60? Good question!

Sigourney Weaver, going strong at 60 in AvatarThirty years after the 5’11” feminist icon Weaver made “Alien” , she returns to outer space as another feisty woman - botanist Dr Grace Augustine, who is involved in exploiting and colonising a planet called Pandora in James Cameron’s Avatar.

I’m struck by how women are embracing aging in America.

Today, looking effortlessly sexy in a black cashmere dress and towering heels, she walks with the confident stride of a woman who enjoys her height, turning heads even before people realise who she is.
